BART (Bristol and Avon Rivers Trust) are running a citizen science project. This involves collecting samples of water from The River Avon catchment area and testing for a range of pollutants.
As part of River Blitz, Sustainable Calne has tested samples of water from Castlefields Park (in 2023), the Abberd Brook (by the stepping stones) and from The Marden (Beach Terrace) for phosphates and nitrates. Results from across the Avon Valley are put together by Bristol and Avon Rivers Trust.
BART add our results to other contributions from across the catchment area and add them to an interactive map, which shows the changing levels of pollutants in our rivers.
